From Pet Photographer to Dog Trainer

My journey into dog training didn’t start in the usual way—it started behind a camera. As a pet photographer, I loved capturing the personalities of animals. Years ago, I volunteered at my local county animal shelter, taking pictures of adoptable & un-adoptable dogs to help them find homes. While photographing these dogs, I noticed many were struggling with behaviors that made adoption harder. It wasn’t because they were "bad" dogs; they were simply overwhelmed, frustrated, or misunderstood. I realized these dogs needed more than just good photos—they needed someone to advocate for them.

What began as taking pictures turned into spending time with the dogs who needed extra help: the rowdy ones, the withdrawn ones, and those labeled “unadoptable.” Even before I was formally trained in dog behavior, I found I had a knack for connecting with these dogs and helping them learn skills to become more adoptable. Watching these dogs transform and find their forever homes was incredibly rewarding—and it inspired me to take the next step.

Turning Passion into Profession

In 2015, I officially started my career as a professional dog trainer. Since then, I’ve worked with countless dogs and their owners, from first-time puppy parents to families with rescue dogs needing extra care. Every dog I’ve trained has taught me something new and deepened my commitment to helping dogs and their people live happier lives together.
