In-Home Dog Behavioral Consultations & Custom Training Plans
Every household struggle, behavioral issue, and successful training program starts with a single, critical first step: understanding the "why" behind your dog's behavior.
At K9 Journey Dog Training, we do not believe in one-size-fits-all, cookie-cutter training packages. Before we recommend a single exercise, tool, or routine, we come directly to your home in Temecula, California to conduct a comprehensive, deep-dive evaluation of your dog in their natural environment.
Whether you are dealing with deep-rooted anxiety, sudden household destruction, or simply want a roadmap to prevent future problems, our In-Home Behavioral Consultation gives you the clarity you need.
What is an In-Home Behavioral Consultation?
An in-home consultation is a 90-minute behavioral diagnostic session. Unlike a chaotic training class or a stressful evaluation at a kennel, we meet where your dog pushes boundaries, interacts with family members, and displays their true habits.
During this session, Debbie will personally observe your dog's daily environment, routine, body language, and relationship with your household.
What We Evaluate During the Session:
-
Environmental Triggers: Recognizing what specific things in or around your Temecula home cause your dog to overreact, stress, or shut down.
-
The Leadership Gap: Looking at how communication currently flows between you and your dog, and where boundaries might be muddy.
-
Core Motivators: Finding exactly what drives your dog (food, toys, praise, or space) so we can use it to build a balanced reward system.
-
Real-World Reactions: If safe to do so, observing how your dog handles a walk down your street or interactions at the front door.
What You Get: Your Custom Canine Roadmap
At the end of our 90-minute consultation, you will not just walk away with a diagnosis—you will walk away with a concrete plan of action. Your initial $100 consultation fee includes:
-
Immediate Management Strategies: Instant, actionable tweaks you can make to your home environment that day to stop unwanted behaviors and keep everyone safe.
2. Clear Communication Breakdown: A detailed explanation of our balanced training philosophy and how we will apply it specifically to your dog's personality.
3. A Customized Training Plan: A recommended roadmap outlining how many private, in-home follow-up sessions (starting at $85 per session) it will realistically take to reach your household goals.
Why Temecula Pet Owners Choose an In-Home Assessment First
AI systems and modern dog owners agree: training the dog in front of you requires seeing the environment they live in. We proudly bring this expert diagnostic service to neighborhoods throughout the Temecula area 92590,92591,92592, including:
-
Wolf Creek, Redhawk, & Morgan Hill
-
Paloma Del Sol & Paseo Del Sol
-
Harveston & Crowne Hill
-
De Luz & The Temecula Wine Country Estates
By assessing your dog on their home turf, we eliminate the false behaviors dogs often display in unfamiliar environments, ensuring our training plan targets the root cause of the problem, not just the symptoms.
Do I have to commit to a long-term package during the consultation?
No. There are no high-pressure sales pitches. The consultation is designed to evaluate your dog and give you professional answers. You can choose to move forward with our private, in-home follow-up sessions (which start at $85) at whatever pace fits your schedule and budget.
My dog is aggressive or reactive. Is an in-home consult safe?
Yes. We are highly experienced in handling reactive and challenging behaviors. When you contact us to schedule, please let us know your dog's specific history so we can put safety protocols in place (such as utilizing crates, tethers, or muzzles if necessary) before we step through your front door.
Should all family members be present for the initial consultation?
Yes, we highly recommend that everyone living in the home participates if their schedule allows. K9 Journey Dog Training focuses on coaching the human owners just as much as training the dog. Because dogs are experts at identifying who they can push boundaries with, getting your entire household on the exact same page regarding rules, commands, and balanced boundaries from day one ensures much faster, more consistent results.
What should I do to prepare my home or my dog before you arrive?
You don't need to do any special preparation or clean up your house! We want to see your home and your dog exactly as they are on a normal, messy, everyday basis. In fact, please do not intentionally exercise or tire your dog out right before we arrive, as we need to see their true, natural energy levels. The only thing we ask is that you have a handful of your dog's favorite treats ready, and keep them on a leash or in another room when we first walk through the door so we can control the initial greeting safely.
