At K9 Journey Dog Training, we believe that training should begin the moment you bring your new puppy home. One of the first and most crucial steps is to establish a designated bathroom area. As soon as you arrive home, immediately carry your puppy to the spot you want them to use for bathroom breaks. This helps create a consistent routine and sets the foundation for successful house training. Consistency and patience are key, and starting this practice early will help build a strong bond between you and your new furry friend, paving the way for more advanced training in the future.

At K9 Journey Dog Training, we recommend that you start establishing a bond with your new dog for at least two weeks before beginning formal training. During this time, it's important to set up a routine with rules and follow through with them. Keep a leash on the dog when it's with you to guide it to the designated potty area and to help keep the dog in the area where you are. Utilize a crate when the dog is unsupervised and use it for feeding to create a safe space. Avoid rewarding jumping on people or furniture, and take your time with introductions to other dogs. Learn your new dog's behavior to prevent unwanted anxiety before putting it in challenging situations.

Training should be a daily activity. Living life is training. Establish routines, have fun with your dog or puppy, and build a bond so your dog wants to be around you and participate with you. You can still implement rules and boundaries without being a heavy-handed leader. Daily sessions should be fun and should end before your dog starts ignoring you.

K9 Journey offers in-home private sessions with pet parents. The initial consultation is $100.00 and lasts 1.5 hours at your home. Beyond the consultation, if you choose to continue with training sessions, a single 1-hour session starts at $85.00 (within the training radius). Packages of 1-hour sessions are also available: 4 sessions start at $300.00, 8 sessions start at $560.00, and 12 sessions start at $780.00 (all within the training radius). Payment methods accepted include Cash, Venmo, and Zelle.
